Do You Know An Optician?

How many times have I heard that question?  In 28 years in the eye care industry I heard it enough times to decide to do something about it.  Starting an online recruiting website for eye care professionals was one of the best ideas of my career.  It has also proven to be one of the most challenging ideas of my career.  I now know why 90% of people don't start their own businesses.  It's a lot of work and a ton of stress!  But were here!

Recruiting....such a stressful word for most people.  It is easily one of eye care's ongoing challenges.  For employers losing an employee can be stressful and challenging.  It can also be hard on the remaining staff members.  Finding the perfect employee can be time consuming and expensive.  Statistics say that on average the recruiting process including onboarding, training, loss of sales and patients can cost between 1.5 to 2.0 times the exiting employee's salary.  That's incentive right there to find and hire the new employee as fast as possible.

Where Should I Advertise?

Second most popular question I heard over time.  Newspapers, Association websites, Job Bank?  Nothing seems to be working anymore.  Where are all the Opticians looking?  Exactly...where are they looking?  When I asked Opticians and other eye care professionals they don't know where to look either.  There really is no place to look they said.  Hmmm?
